K-box with DGDD fatties!!

Second post of the weekend! Shows that I’m really maximizing every single second of these precious 2 days of freedom and human rights.

Yesterday, I went out to sing with my DGDD classmates, who I affectionately call them “fatties” even though they are not corpulent because it’s just funny. Not that I have anything against bigger sized people but it’s just for the fun so please don’t be offended. :)

Sadly, I wasn’t exactly inspired to take lots of photos because the room was extremely dark. In fact, it was so dark that even flash did not manage to help me much. But oh well~

So we were meant to meet at 2pm outside Marina Square’s K-box but many of them were late. Good thing I knew that the K-box would definitely be extremely packed due to the 6 dollars promotion so in the morning, I called to reserve a slot from 2pm - 4pm. Only managed to start at 2:30pm because that was when majority of them arrived…

And because we had 8 people singing together, 2 hours was definitely not enough! We asked if we could extend but the staff there were rather unhelpful by answering that their bookings are quite “full” and cannot extend for us. Oh well!!

But we ain’t stupid!! I got Rini to make a reservation while we were INSIDE K-box for a slot from 4:30pm - 6:30pm, just in case they didn’t allow us to extend. And yes!! They didn’t!!

Furthermore, they cut short our timing because they apparently start charging from the time you RESERVED the room, not the time you ENTER the room. Sucks no? So we basically threw half an hour away for nothing.

WELL, IN YOUR FACES BITCHES!
We still managed to get another slot because we’re oh-so-clever to book another slot. So much for “full” booking…

*P.S. These rants have nothing to do with the pictures, I know. :)

The only thing emitting light was these decorations. Well~ There were the room lights of course but I was too lazy to turn them on for photos. Besides, lights in a K-box room spoils the atmosphere.

Rini brought her Sony super-zoom camera and it’s so LIGHT!! Well, as compared to my 550D of course. Got her to pose with her camera for this photo. Almost look like an ad~

Clarence, Ben Lim and Rini with her camera. I believe she took a picture of me taking a picture of them…

This was taken at the second room. Did I mention that while we were in our first room, they totally forgotten to give us those snacks, leaving a few of us hungry? Evil them!! Well~ It’s 6 dollars so you can’t expect much but if you’re the management of K-box and you read this statement, 6 dollars doesn’t mean you provide lousy service, get? I’ve been to K-box so many times and this is probably the worst service I’ve gotten. Slightly disappointed.

Anyway~ The gang that went singing includes (left to right) Jia Yi, Clarence, Daryl, Jum, myself, Peiquan, Ben Lim and Rini.

Jum, Rini, Clarence and I had to leave earlier because we were meant to meet Wayne and Ben Ang at Yew Tee for dinner and we rushed like hell because we thought we would be extremely late but good thing we weren’t.

This dinner “date” was planned weeks before and I guess I didn’t have an excuse not to go since I was informed so early. We had Astons Express at a food court near the Yew Tee MRT station. Snapped a few candid portraits of them while waiting for our food~ Here’s Jum’s…

Here’s Ben Ang and I can see his chin!! He’s slimmed down SO MUCH!! I’m so amazed!!

Wayne was sitting right next beside me and with my 50mm lens, it was pretty difficult to get a proper shot but I did manage to get a profile though, not before he terrorized me by sticking his face extremely close to my camera.

And Shun Ding made a special appearance! It’s been awhile since I saw him~ I think the last time I saw him was back at school and that was like a year ago? His nonsense and outburst of randomness still tickles me.

Clarence, the police inspector~

Let’s talk ‘bout food~ I didn’t manage to get proper photos of everyone else’s food so I just took mine. Partially because I was too lazy and was really hungry so I couldn’t be bothered but anyway~ I had this grilled fish with herbs (because it’s less fattening than chicken, or so I believe) and have it paired with a garden salad and baked potato. Honestly, I would prefer broccolis but these veggies are just fine.

The huge slice of fish topped with tartar sauce. YUMMY!! One thing I don’t really like about eating dory fish is that it is pretty difficult to poke the fork at it because it will break into smaller pieces, making it slightly more challenging to eat. But it’s tasty so it’s worth that little trouble.

After dinner, I went off while the rest of them went to Wayne’s house to play board games. Reason why I didn’t want to go? Because I want to sleep!! But I didn’t go home though…

Oh yes!! I did say I would take a photo of Pokemon Black right?

Here it is and it’s not mine!! :P

I’m still charging my DS after I drained it from playing Pokemon for the whole of yesterday night so I have pretty much nothing to do right now. Booking in tomorrow morning but that’s fine considering that I can play Pokemon in camp~ :P

Shall end here!

Graduation Day!!

FINALLY! After 3 years of schooling at Singapore Polytechnic, I’ve graduated with my Diploma of Game Design and Development (I got it with merit too~ :D) and my Certificate in Theater Production and Performance!

Well today, it’s all about formalities. So we had to put on that graduation robe, sit in the convention center, listen to speeches which I couldn’t understand fully, wait for your turn to get on stage, take pictures, be happy, etc… Even if it was for that short, few hours, it was actually quite fun.

Took quite a number of pictures with my friends this time. However, I wasn’t the photographer; Vera was. I had to do some cropping and framing after I look through the film to make them better… :P But thanks sis~ Otherwise I wouldn’t have any pictures to blog about… :P

Oh well~ I shall start putting pictures now!!

So… Today is Session 8 of the Graduation Ceremony. Lucky for our batch, we are the 50th batch to graduate from Singapore Polytechnic and that’s a nice number! Some of my friends and myself were made to wait for over 400+ people’s turns before it was ours to get on stage to get our diplomas because ours had something extra attached to the piece of paper. :)

I didn’t take this picture, nor did my sister. Grabbed this off the internet… :P All our names were screened on the big screen, along with our faces LIVE! Many of us were surprised because we weren’t expecting it and of course, many of us, including myself, have no idea how to react too.

Yes… My name and face on the big screen. The picture is horribly blurry but it’s the only shot Vera took. :(

Grabbed this off the internet as well. :) Nice picture!! I’ve graduated y’all~

Also off the internet… That’s SP’s principal, in case y’all don’t know. He actually recognized me! So honored~

Unlike the others who received a red scroll box for their diploma, I received a folder with a gold ribbon around it. Not that I don’t like the folder but can I have the scroll box TOO? The round box is cool~

As I was one of the course medalist (not trying to be shameless or something but~), I was brought to another place for reception along with my father and sister who went to the ceremony. The food was surprisingly good and ODD. Have you seen sweet potato porridge served with condiments for a high tea reception? This is a first!

Rini and I were the course medalist for our course. ~smile widely~

Took this off the internet too. The photographer snapped this while we were having a conversation with one of our lecturers, Soo Yin, and apparently, she was startled.

I’m famous, y’all! My face appeared in the magazine that were given to the graduates and on the boards around the area. And I have a neck in the picture too! Good thing the photographer chose a good picture of me. :S So happy that I’m featured some where~ :P

Vera and the board “me”. :P I don’t understand why they have to put my secondary school’s name there though. I rather they put my primary school. :P

Vera and me~ :D

LIMIT! At least 4 out of 6 of the LIMIT members were present. Ching Kai and Wayne sadly didn’t come because they forgot (or that’s what I’ve heard) to book their seats in time. :(

And suddenly, we have more and more people joining in for the photo shoots…

This is roughly one-third of my course. I have no idea where all the rest disappeared to but most of my good friends are around, thank goodness!

When we started to gather for this group photo, there was a sudden swarm of photographers (parents and siblings and others) snapping away at us with their cameras. So, we had to give ourselves directions so that we are all looking at the same camera~ Felt like celebrities~ :P

Vera told us to take a candid shot and this is what I did… -_-“

And we did jump shots!! There were lots of failed ones and if you wish to see, you can visit my Facebook photo album. If I haven’t add you on Facebook, please inform me and I’ll see whether I want to add you or not. Facebook is for keeping in touch with friends, not for collecting people, understand? :) Compliments to Vera for being able to take this picture, by the way~ :D

This was a half-pass-half-failed jump shot but it’s still mostly acceptable to me. Jum lives up to his name~!

Vera borrowed my graduation robe and took pictures with Le Nian. Le Nian was just compromising with Vera’s vertically challenged physique. This is fantasy…

This is REALITY!!

I may be short but I’m comfortable with my height. I’ve came to terms with standing beside Le Nian because of our height difference. When we were in Year 1, there were many times where I felt like a dwarf besides a giraffe. :P Missing those moments already…

Vera, me, daddy… :)

I look tall in this picture~ WOOO HOOOO~~~

My photographer of the day, sister forever, Vera Lim~ :P

If I don’t say anything, no one would knew that she borrowed my gown~ She looks like a graduate, no? But those shoes are unacceptable~ :P

We both “graduated” together!! Actually, Vera borrowed my gown and Jum lent me his so that we can take this photo together. Thanks Jum~ :D Oh yes~ By the way, Alvin managed to get an extra tie from his friend so that I have a tie for the day. Thanks Alvin, and your friend~ :D It’s really a pity I didn’t manage to take a picture with him. ~sobs~

We managed to get Daddy to wear the gown too and the size is definitely wrong. His tummy was showing… :P

Now~ To reveal whatever’s in the folder. Maomao is very interested in it… :P

My 2 certificates for my respective diplomas~ Underneath those certificates are my transcripts for all my semesters! Thank goodness they included those because I’ve lost a couple of them already. :S

Besides the diploma, I was also awarded this golden coin with my name on it. Maomao also found it interesting.

The school emblem and my name printed at the bottom of the box. This is my first time receiving a medal for anything at all~ Happiness!!

And best of all, it has my name on it too! :D

Remember the ribbon that was wrapped around my diploma folder? I brought it home and gave it to Maomao. He loved it! As the fan was switched on and the ribbon flew freely around the room, he went around chasing it~

His eyes look a bit scary in this one because of the flash. OH YES! I got 400 dollars along with my diploma too~ That means I’m one step closer to getting my DSLR and that means better pictures (I hope)~ WOO HOO!!

And to end of today’s entry, I shall use my favorite picture of the bunch~ Taken by yours truly~ :D Well, poly life had just officially ended and another journey awaits. That’s so cliche but whatever~ Hopefully, I will still have time to meet out with my beloved friends and say stupid things to them, just like what I always do in class.

Hopefully, no matter what happens, we will still keep in contact and not be one of those “hi-bye” friends. Those are just pure decorations that I don’t need in my life. :)

Good luck to everyone who’s just graduated, yes~ :D Let’s stomp out into the world fiercely~~

See y’all around, fatties!!

School of Design - Graduation Show

Well well, this is a long overdue post but I’m still going to do it anyway. Most of the pictures, if not all, are already on my facebook photo album so if you want, you can just go over there to see.

And if I have not added you on facebook for any particular reason (because mine’s a damn private account, you cannot add me), please tell me and I’ll see if I will add you. I only add FRIENDS and not strangers because facebook is not meant to be a tool for “collecting” people.

Well, I’ll do my best to keep this entry short because today’s challenge is to blog 3 overdue posts and I’m really tight for time~ Here goes!

*Please tumblr, don’t die on me now~*

In case you’ve not seen this, this is the BIRTH gradshow poster. See those colored babies? They represent the different courses of the School of Design and School of Built Environment. Not liking the poster though but you have to acknowledge the people’s effort in making it because those babies are HAND-STAMPED!

On Day 0, basically set-up night, Jiayi and I went to Suntec at 10pm to collect our graduation A0 panels and to see whether those brochures had arrived. Other than that, we had nothing much to do. I was suffering from a slight cold throughout the gradshow and I could remember myself blowing my nose like crazy!

We had to arrange the panels properly so that the vendors can help us hang them up! Lucky for us this year, we had the vendors to help because from what I’ve heard, the seniors had to do the labor themselves.

At around 12:30am, Jiayi and I went to join the rest at Liang Court at Partyworld to sing! Since going home on the cab is going to be ridiculously expensive and that we had to arrive at Suntec at 6 in the morning, we might as well enjoy our night and use that money to sing! Though it was really exhausting, it was great fun!

Melvin and Weiguang are always so fun to watch and listen to; especially when Melvin dedicated the song “Gay Bar” to Weiguang, much to Weiguang’s dismay. :P

After singing, we walked back to City Hall to have McDonald’s for breakfast. We were famished and exhausted (bad combination) but we had to push on. On the way back, we passed through this tunnel with blue/purple/pink lights and took this picture!

Forced Clarence to take this shot since he offered it but I haven’t got the chance to snap it~ :P

When we arrived, I had to do some admin work like taking attendance, giving out of the lanyards and other ya-da ya-da with Jiayi. We were tired like hell and the first day of the gradshow was extremely draggy and long! The picture above shows how the layout basically looked like.

My personal panel and station! It’s right beside the JAMBOREE one~

For some weird reason, we had to do a runway show and the runway wasn’t easy to walk on because it was a ramp down to the ground. I wonder who in the right mind designed that! I see many people running down the runway instead of doing a proper walk and so, I decided to do something fun.

I walked onto the stage like a drag, whipped out my camera, posed and took a picture of the audience~ They were surprised I guess (just look at their faces!). I strutted down the runway like a drag!

It was really fun! I was trying so hard not to laugh because it was difficult to stay composed on the steep runway but at least it worked~ :P Now that’s a runway walk!

On the second day of Christmas gradshow, I took this picture of my DVD casing and name card! Cool not? :D

Since many, including the lecturers, had experience the long and boring day of day 1 at the gradshow, most of us brought something over to the exhibition to do. For instance, Chiyong, my lecturer, brought his figurines to assemble.

The rest of the artists from my class started drawing. I myself had nothing to do other than doing the same admin work and running around carrying stuff. At least I took pictures though~

At night, even the lecturers started to play Uno because it was seriously boring…

On Day 3, from cards games, we evolved to board games. Dominic brought this really interesting game where you pushed balls that looked like fishballs and bubble tea pearls around. I believe it’s called “Abalone”, though I see no relation with the expensive stuff we eat.

Day 3 was the worst, I think, because there was nothing to do at all. Not even admin work because there was no runway for our course! Oh~ Did I mention I spun my sai down the runway? It was fun too!

Day 4, the final day of gradshow, we did stupid stuff like censoring underwears.

Chua Ying Ying and my family came to visit too! They came specially to see my do the runway~ Sweetness~ Ying Ying stayed at the gradshow until evening and so, I had company and had someone to talk to. :P

On the fourth day, it was Shunding’s birthday! He was pushed on stage and we sang him a birthday song!

My lecturer, Justine, is also a big Resident Evil fan and he wore the S.T.A.R.S cap to spite me that night… :(

Besides Abalone, there was also Chinese chess, a game that I will probably not understand… :S I would rather play the English counterpart though.

This is the final picture of this post! Well during the gradshow, I met lots of new awesome people and Chewyin, the overall program manager is one of them~ :D So we took a picture~

Okay~ Now that’s the end of the gradshow. It was really fun but extremely tiring~ But during the gradshow, I really saw the class together for once and talking to each another. If only that happened more often…

Okay, minus those irritating people, the class would be so much better~ :D

YES! One down, 2 more to go!

Final Year Project OVER!!

It feels as though the weight of the world on my shoulders just disappeared all of a sudden and when I was walking around in Vivo and on my way back home, I felt as though I grew taller~

Maybe because I was unconsciously walking too straight again. Good~ Maybe I can be a runway model but I’m too short~ :P

Anyway, today’s the Final Year Project (FYP) presentation. If you read what I’ve posted yesterday, JAMBOREE is the FYP. This morning, I woke up at 6am so that I can go to school to see how much has been scripted.

Thanks to all the scriptors (especially Jum since he’s in my team), for working SO hard on the FYP to make everything possible! They had sacrifice a lot of their sleep and stayed over in school just to continue scripting the game.

This morning, I was extremely nervous. In fact, I had never been so nervous for a presentation for so long already. Probably because I had no clue how much of the game had been done but thank goodness, a lot has been done though not 100% completed.

Jum said it’s 80% completed and I say that’s really remarkable!

Okay. So I arrived at school slightly before 8am to see all of them scripting away. Stress-ness. I was not of much help there because my purpose was just to be there to see the progress as well as to bind the game design documentation. The shop only opens at 9am so I had to wait…

In the mean time…

I was bored so I took Jum’s Winnie the Pooh that he brought from home to keep himself company over the night and did a photo shoot of it in front of one of the PCs in SALC, featuring some of my favorite tag lines~ :P

Almost before every major critique, the lecturers will get McDonald’s breakfast for us and today is no exception. After binding the GDD, Jum and I proceeded to T3A to meet the rest and we had our breakfast in class. Ching Kai said the setting looks as though we were victims of a natural disaster waiting for rations.

I was bored so I took a picture of Le Nian. He doesn’t have to do much to get a neck in his pictures. Envious~

Okay. This is taken AFTER our presentation, which went well. Thank goodness again~ YEAH! It feels as though I’ve completed a major examination and I feel so free right now because I have hardly anything to worry about, though I still have to prepare stuff for the graduation show but oh well~

After the critique, the rest of them decided to play Blackjack, minus the money. Good. Gambling’s bad anyway, especially in school. I won’t play Blackjack because I think it’s just a game of luck and it’s boring.

I decided that since it’s our final critique together, might as well take pictures together since we were well dressed. I asked Ben to help us be the photographer~ (: Candid shot of Clarence and Ben here…

Candid shot of Jum. This is not posed. :P

While waiting for them to be done reading the notice on the door of the studio, I took this picture.

Ben took this picture of Ching Kai. I wonder why… :P

We were looking for a place to take the picture and we decided to try on the bridges connecting the few buildings together. I got Ben to stand for me so that I can test the lighting. Apparently, it was really sunny and we squirmed in the picture no matter where we stood.

Really squirmy eyes…

Before we start, some of them went to the toilet. Wayne unbuttoned some of his buttons and it looks wrong… :|

While waiting, I experimented again on taking shots to lengthen one’s legs. Tried it on Jum first and it worked really good, especially with the contrast of the white and black of his look.

Tried it on Clarence too. He just had to cover his *ahem* though it’s not necessary because it will only draw attention to his *ahem*.

This is so much better~

Tried it on Rini and it worked too~ The lighting is good too as compared to Jum’s and Clarence’s pictures.

And finally, we took our pictures and Teoshun decided to join in.

A proper shot. Not liking my pants because the internal pocket is peeling. :( But the sunlight was really hurting our eyes and we were squirming! Teoshun looks like Professor Oak in this picture.

Took a candid shot of Jum. I like the collar of his shirt. :)

We decided to change our location to take the picture. Ben had to leave us to prepare for his team’s critique. So, I had to use the “cam-whoring” method to take the picture, but not without asking Wayne to shift my hand first. What a pity, Ching Kai’s mouth is hidden…

This is much better~ Though Jum’s face is slightly cropped. *Sigh* The disadvantage of using the “cam-whore” method. Notice how “flawless” everyone’s skin is? :P

We tried in the elevator. Slightly dark. :S Clarence’s face is epic!

Went back to class after the hot photo shoot and they are still playing with cards.

After taking the pictures, I decided to take an early leave to Vivo to get some stuff for Mao-mao; some food, some toys, a scratching pad and a brush. Also went to check with the veterinarian’s office to check whether they have slots for Sheena and Laura and myself to bring Qiqi and Mao-mao for their appointment.

Then, I went to return my book at Sengkang and went home to nap!

NAP! It’s been ages since I had those…

I can finally sleep peacefully… :)
